Climacteric fruits & vegetables generate ethylene. Ethylene acts as an auto catalyst for ripening. This accelerates the ripening and senescence of fruits and vegetables. These commodities are at risk of microbial spoilage on ripening due to increased sugar levels. This results in rotting with loss in the nutritional value & taste. Post-harvest, the situation worsens due to improper handling, storage, lack of cold chain, etc.
TapStar® R masterbatch is a unique, eco-friendly, non-hazardous, Anti-Ripening masterbatch for coatings & plastic applications to control ethylene concentration in the packaging & enhance the storage & transit life of fresh produce. Silver oxidizes ethylene while zeolite traps it, thus reducing ethylene concentration in the packaging, hence delays ripening/aging.
